Jidai Okure

Jidai Okure

Notes

Born and raised on Awajishima. Regular office worker Tsuyoshi Yamamoto has never been off the island in this film which depicts half of his life up to marrying off his only daughter.
Just like in the words of the song "Jidai Okure",
"The man in the corner of the bar laments into his drink without complaining to his children or showing tears to his wife"
This clumsy, but loving man is played by Kanpei Hazama and Shintaro Hazama.
This story shows the charms of the islanders, through the life of this man.

PR Point

A film set in Awajishima, home of lyricist Yu Aku, who wrote a number of Showa hit songs.
Awajishima is blessed with rich nature, retro shopping streets, fishing ports and hotels etc., and has an old-fashioned town feel.
And more than anything else, this is a place where you can feel the warmth of the people.
This original story was written based on the world view of the Showa hit song by Yu Aku, "Jidai Okure".
The people of Awajishima cooperated in the shooting of this film, which was done on location throughout Awajishima.
Many Awajishima people also participated as extras, in a film which shares the good feel of the people of this island.

The charms of Awajishima include its nature ocean and mountain surrounds and its treasure trove of foods as the so-called land of food from ancient times. But I think that its greatest charm is the warmth of its people. The main character of this film is an ordinary office worker on the island, and there are a number of scenes where you can feel the warmth of the people of the island. "Jidai Okure", by Awajishima born writer Yu Aku is a favorite song of Awajishima islanders, and you will often see men on the island signing it in bars. I began this work wondering how I would be able to capture the melancholy of such scenes. More than 80% of the cast in this film are islanders from Awajishima. I hope that you will be able to feel the sorrows and warmth of the people of Awajishima through this film.
