Notes

A young couple live on an island in Ehime Prefecture. The husband works as a crew on board a domestic vessel. He works for three months on the ship and spends the next month resting on land.
Based on this cycle, he only comes back home three times a year. The wife Akari's life is a repetition of "three months without husband and a month with husband". While her husband is away, she spends her days alone eating the potatos that wives in the neigborhood give her, and going to buy coffee beans from a shop along the coast for her cofee she enjoys every morning. Married for two years now, life with her husband is gradually becoming something special to Akari.
Like always, the husband returns home. Life as a married couple for the first time in three months. Some things are the same, but some change. This is a story about the "special" time spent by the two.

PR Point

Hakatajima of Imabari City, where this movie was mainly shot, is a well known island for shipping and shipbuilding.
An island rich in nature lying in the Seto Inland Sea, this movie was made with the hope that more people will get to know about it.
The island provides an experience found nowhere else, with time passing by peacefully, and its beautiful mountains, and clear-blue sea.
Lifestyles and dialect unique to the island are also highlights of the movie.
We hope that the movie will provide the oppoortunity to introduce everyday scenes on the island and the work of the domestic vessel crewman to the whole of Japan.

The islands of Hakatajima, Oshima, and Omishima of Imabari City, Ehime Prefecture, where this movie was mainly filmed, lie on the Seto Inland Sea. Though close to each other, they are completely different from each other characteristicaly. Many of the people living on Hakatajima have been involved in ship related work since long ago. Oshima has a bustling stone industry, and Omishima produces citrus fruits on a large-scale. In everyday scenery, there is sea, island, ships, and Mandarin orange fields. Life on the islands and the sceneries there have not changed from long ago in some ways, but some aspects are gradually changing. The main character of this movie Kaori lives on Hakatajima island, candidly observing work and life on the island, things that gradually change, the mountains, sea, people, and living things. Through Kaori, this movie was made with the strong desire to want to feel the hardships as well as the abundance of being alive.
